Marks' Little Flower

Sept 12, 2008

This 16" x 20" Pastel and graphite drawing is my sons soccer coach Marks little girl named Amaleigh

At a soccer game Amaleigh was putting on a show for all of us parents. Just 4 years and had us wrapped around her little fingers. I was trying to take some pictures of her that day but she didn't want any part of it. The next day though.. Amaleigh finally opened her little heart to us and made us laugh with every giggle that came out of her. I got some awesome pictures of her in her pinkish dress with her pinkish hat and this picture was one that I loved.

The flower in her hand was something that was added later to the drawing. The way she had her hand on her lap made it natural  or fitting to put the flower in it.

The technique that I used is soft charcoal pastels and over top I did the drawing.

Mark has put in so much work in coaching our kids that I wanted to say thank you with a drawing of Amaleigh. He is always been there when the kids needed him even if it was a silly question late at night.

As a coach sometimes you think that what you are doing is a thankless job and that nobody really cares as long as their kid gets to play.

Well Mark for being such an outstanding coach and for all the hard work you put into our U 18 boys team and the Rep Soccer system, coach, this drawing is for you....

.....Thanks a million....
